I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again (and again)… I freaking love my job and the couples I get to work with! Casey and Jon came from Houston and while they were in town for the weekend they wanted to take their engagement photos, so we made it happen. I love that I’ve had so many couples reach out and say they’re coming from out of state and want to book a desert engagement session while they’re visiting Arizona. I think the desert is absolutely beautiful, and such a fun and unique place to take photos!
When these two showed up I just knew it was going to be a dang good shoot, the sun was setting beautifully, their outfits were perfect, and they were down for whatever! I truly love when people dress to match the “vibe” they’re going for and the location. These two wanted to capture the southwest, and their outfits complimented the scenery so well. And I mean white cowboy boots will forever have my heart!
If you’re coming from out of state to visit Arizona and want to book a shoot while you’re here, here are a few tips and suggestions!
Desert Engagement Session Tips
1. Visit when the weather is ideal
Which honestly is majority of the time if we’re being honest! But the months of late September and October are beautiful if you still want to wear those summer dresses, shorts, etc. Any earlier than this and you will most likely be sweating during your session. Which is totally fine, but you don’t want to be uncomfy! The Spring is also a perfect time to visit!
2. Talk to your photographer
Ask about locations, some places are super busy and crowded and it can be tough to shoot there. If possible, weekday evening shoots are going to be a lot less crowded than weekends. If you’re only in town for the weekend that’s totally fine and we will get you the perfect spot!
3. Make it a date!
If you’re on a little getaway or vacation to Arizona you have to take advantage of all the things to see and do. There are tons of resorts and spas so pamper yourself the day of your shoot. There’s also lots of shopping, so you could find a cute boutique or head to Scottsdale mall (my personal favorite) and find something cute to wear or accessories to complete your outfit! After your shoot you have to go out to dinner because you can’t let a cute outfit go unseen am I right?!
