I'm a wedding, elopement, and engagement photographer specializing in storytelling and true to life photography!
It’s inevitable whenever I hear a good love song, I immediately get in my feels. There’s so much power in music, and creating a wedding day playlist is the best way to set the tone of your day. From getting ready moments, to walking down the aisle, to the one you’ll have your first dance to – I have compiled a list of some of my favorite songs!
In 2017 I married my husband in Pensacola, Fl. We eloped just the two of us and it was the most simple and laidback “wedding day”. I got ready in a hotel room by myself and wanted to make it as exciting as possible! Before the “big day” I sat down and created a getting ready playlist that I listened to while doing my hair and makeup. It was one of the best decisions I ever made, it set the tone for the day and got me so excited to run off to the courthouse lol!
Skip ahead 5 years- my husband and I had an “elopement redo” on the island of Oahu. We got ready separately, but both listened to the same playlist while getting ready! The night before our elopement, we added songs to a playlist to play while getting ready. We now listen to this playlist often; it’s full of some of our favorite songs. I added my original getting-ready playlist to the new one, and it was so nostalgic!
Here are some go-to getting-ready songs to listen to on your wedding day…
I have heard so many incredible processional songs, and each time the music starts- and the bride enters into view, I get emotional. The emotions and excitement are at an all-time high, and the music playing adds to the feeling.
Before the bride enters, the groom, the parents, and the bridal party will walk down the aisle! Here are some of my favorite song ideas for this moment…
Now for when the bride enters, these are songs that will leave no dry eye in the room…
When it comes to the first dance, I love when couples choose songs that are meaningful to them- or they connect with. Maybe you want a completely new song choice to dance to for your first dance! Or maybe, you can’t agree on a first dance song; here are some perfect song ideas.
I love this part of the reception! It is so precious and always a tear-jerker. I wanted to mix it up with some songs I haven’t heard (or hear played often) during parent dances. After doing some research, here are the ideas I found…
Let me tell ya friends, your wedding DJ is important! A good DJ knows how to set the tone for each event. They know what songs to play to get the party going and what songs keep everyone on the dance floor. If you want your reception to be a party, and if music and dancing is important to you, then you want to invest in someone who has raving reviews!
